Bollinger Special Cuvée: A Testament to Timeless Elegance

Experience the epitome of Champagne craftsmanship with Bollinger Special Cuvée. This emblematic non-vintage brut embodies over a century of expertise and tradition. Its name, with English spelling, was coined in 1911 by Georges Bollinger’s British agent, who believed “Special Cuvée” better reflected its refined character. Today, it remains a benchmark of the house’s unwavering commitment to quality.

Exceptional Blend and Aging Process

Special Cuvée is a harmonious blend of over 85% Grand and Premier crus from Champagne’s three main grape varieties:

60% Pinot Noir
25% Chardonnay
15% Meunier

This meticulous composition includes a majority of reserve wines, some aged in magnums for 7 to 15 years. The Champagne is cellar-aged for twice as long as appellation regulations require, ensuring depth and complexity. A moderate dosage of 7 to 8 grams per liter strikes a perfect balance.

A Symphony of Aromas and Flavors

Upon pouring, Special Cuvée reveals a golden hue, characteristic of black grape varieties, accompanied by very fine bubbles. The nose offers a beautiful aromatic complexity, with ripe fruit and spicy aromas, and hints of roasted apples, compote, and peaches. On the palate, it presents a subtle combination of structure, length, and vivacity. The bubbles feel like velvet, delivering flavors of pear, brioche, and spicy notes, with a touch of fresh walnut.

Perfect Pairings and Serving Suggestions

Special Cuvée is ideal for sharing with friends during meaningful moments. It pairs wonderfully with all fish, especially sushi and sashimi, as well as shellfish like shrimp, prawns, crayfish, and grilled lobster. Poultry and white meats also complement its profile. For optimal enjoyment, serve between 8 and 10°C. While delightful now, it can also be aged in your cellar for future appreciation.
