Aptly named in Scots Gaelic as the ‘Glen of Tranquillity,’ this haven graces the serene banks of the Dornoch Firth, a breathtaking sea estuary and a global Site of Special Scientific Interest. In homage to this pristine locale, Glenmorangie has forged a masterpiece: the Dornoch Limited Edition, a Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky of unparalleled vibrancy and sophistication.
Inspired Creation
Dornoch is the brainchild of our Director of Distilling and Whisky Creation, Dr. Bill. His vision was to capture the essence of the Dornoch Firth in a limited edition release. To mirror the windswept coastline, a robust spirit was born, extra matured in Amontillado sherry butts in our traditional Dunnage Warehouses. The result? A dance of distant sweet aromatic smoke and rich nutty flavors layered upon warm toffee and dried fruits. To embody the tranquility of the Firth, ex-bourbon American White Oak casks were employed, infusing the spirit with floral, vanilla, and citrus notes.
Maturing by the Sea
Crafted by the sea, Glenmorangie Dornoch matures slowly in 19th-century Dunnage Warehouses, their earth floors kissed by the moist, salty air of the Dornoch Firth. Sheltered from North Sea storms, this environment provides ideal conditions for our Single Malt Whiskies to evolve into complexity and elegance.
