Tenjaku Pure Malt Whisky starts with a mash bill of 100% malted barley.

It is double distilled in copper pot stills using pristine waters from the Misaka Mountain range, 250 meters below the Mt. Fuji basin.

This region is known for some of the purest water in the world, the same water used in the highest-grade sake.

The whisky is then aged in heavily seasoned Kentucky bourbon barrels, creating a harmonious blend of mostly 5 and 6-year-old whiskies.

The result is a crisp and mild whisky with a light, mellow flavor.

Our Production Process

When creating Tenjaku Whisky, the goal was to formulate a pure, mellow whisky that suits any drinking style. Whether on the rocks or mixed into a cocktail, Tenjaku Whisky offers a fresh smoothness. This can only be achieved by masterfully blending the highest quality ingredients from our natural environment.

Environment

The story of Tenjaku Whisky begins in Japan’s Yamanashi Prefecture, in the city of Fuefuki, overlooking Mt. Fuji. This fertile area is blessed with nature’s greatest gifts: lush forests, beautiful orchards, hot springs, and crystal clear streams. The natural spring water from these streams is the lifeblood of Tenjaku Whisky.

The Water

The soul of Tenjaku Whisky lies in the natural ingredients, especially the spring water used during distillation. The water is drawn from 250 meters below the Misaka mountain range and filtered through volcanic rock. This ensures a velvety-smooth texture and moderate mineral content, creating Tenjaku’s unique balance of smoothness, cleanliness, and flavor.

Blending Technique

The blending process draws together the unique characteristics of each unprocessed whisky for a harmonious, exquisitely balanced finish. This delicate technique, unique to Japan, involves countless tasting and smelling sessions. Sophisticated techniques are employed by a craftsman who applies years of experience in creating whiskies and extensive knowledge of flavors and aromas from winemaking.
